Missing song meta tags

Hi there, I’m a new here, I have faced with an issue 5-6000 songs have missing meta tags, like song title, artist (each field are filled). Any one of you have been ever faced something like this? Any solution for?

Thanks

First of all, welcome to the mAirList forum!

Can you give us a few more details about your request?

  • Which format was imported? (MP3, FLAC, WAV etc.)
  • What are your import settings in the database?
  • What exact mAirList version are you currently working with?
  • Do the files themselves actually contain proper metadata (e.g. when viewed in a tag editor)?

Hi Liam,

yesterday visited my friend he demo me the mAirlist, I would like to purchase mAirlist, but this case a bit push me back.

• format is ALAC (Apple) m4a (lossless)
• (?) donno
• as I know version 6 on Mac with Parallels
• yes the files have proper metadata, we checked that ( in properties), because my friend also have surprised about that.

All my apps even simply preview can read the meta tags:

Sorry I can post only 1 embed media

this is my DJ app

Metatag editor - META

Here we have the problem. I have reproduced the whole thing with an m4a file:

mAirList cannot take the metadata from the file. Instead, only the filename of the file itself, which is in Title. Is that the case here?

hmm, make me unhappy…I don’t want convert all my files and 5-6k song re-tagging manually

@liam Maybe the ALAC bass.dll is missing?

In this case you need the bassalac.dll file in the plugin folder. You can find it here: https://www.un4seen.com/

Copy the .dll in the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\mAirList 7\plugins\bass

Mass Edit in the database:

And then re-read the file tags once:

Edit: It’s the bassalac.dll-File. Thanks @UliNobbe

Thank you, um, honestly, I don’t know that file should be there or where, missing or not I never met with that type of dll  I hope that work, but for this moment I can not test it.

__ Understand it__ I’m sorry!

…that’s why our forum members are here to help :slightly_smiling_face:

If you have other filetypes than the most used flac or mp3 there are a dll for nearly every other type in the bass online repository. That makes it easier to distribute mAirList…

I have mp3 for Djing, but for radio/ online I collected songs in ALAC format. I didn’t knew that it will makes some hard times, Now I know it :grinning:

Thank all of you for your very quick help I hope that work!

For your information only: *.m4a is a part of a container without telling something about the codec inside.

The container is *.mp4 and can consist of *.m4a (audio) and *.m4v (video).
The audio can be in ALAC or AAC format as well. Please check the file properties before installing additional libraries. This may avoid misunderstanding.

@Liam du akzeptierst keine PNs. Das kann ich sogar verstehen.
Wie kann ich dir eine Nachricht jenseits des Forums zukommen lassen?

a bad news, here is what I’m facing :frowning:

I have been copied the dll in that directory you have told up there, but doesn’t work, meta tags aren’t read

Is mAirList v6.1 the latest version on your computer? You know that you can update to v6.3.24 for free, don’t you?

I ask because in v6 each update (v6.0, 6.1, 6.2 …) has its own subfolder in the x86 directory.
On v7 it has changed, but afaik in v6 there are subfolders. I want to avoid that you have installed it in the wrong folder / directory.

yes it’s a trial 6.1 with parallels / win 10
I have installed to here: C:\Program Files (x86)\mAirList 7\plugins

You may get the point here?

In which folder is the .dll file really located? Because according to the screenshot it is v6.1 and according to your text it is v7

Otherwise, I would recommend working with v7 at this point:

Download | mAirList Radio Automation or directly:
https://download.mairlist.com/current/mAirList/v7.4/mAirList-7.4.6-setup.exe

I’ll try the version 7 as well, but with 6.3 I’m facing with the same, not reading meta-tags from ALAC even if bassalac has moved that plugin folder……hrrrr
