What is the best emergency strategy?

Due to an internet problem I had at my office location, I could not make new playlists (with our Music Scheduling software) for this week and on Sunday evening at midnight, evidently, all our mAirList instances, which are on a VPS in a datacenter, stopped playing music because there was no new playlist available. Luckily we have music backups at our transmitter sites and our webstreams.

When this happened on our previous automation system, it took the playlist of the present day again at a couple of seconds before midnight and kept on playing. mAirList does not do this automatically.

How do you handle this kind of situation?
Thanks for you ideas.

Frank

Check out mAirListConfig -> Actions -> When playlist runs empty in automation mode (select from the list at the top).

You can define any kind of action there, load an emergeny playlist etc.

Yes, but I don’t see the possibility to load an older existing database playlist there. Is there a possibility to do that?

Technically it is possible by using the Time Adjustment setting in the action options. However this is currently limited to -23:59:59. For an entire week (604800 seconds), I would have to use an ordinary edit control where you enter the number of seconds.

Keep in mind that there might be other reasons why the playlist runs empty, for example, the database connection could fail altogether, or the playlist from last week could be empty as well.

In this case, it is a good idea to check the option “Report error if playlist is empty”, then add another action of type “Emergency actions” (mAirList will jump there if any of the other actions fail), and load a playlist from disk there.
