Played a bit more yesterday, and something I think will help. You have Remote control commands for VT Player volume, but how about one that reduces the volume over a time period. For example.
VT PLAYER 1 -6*250(means reduce Player 1 volume by 6dB over 250mS, another button could reverse it etc.
