Use with Delta 1010LT

Not sure it it’s something I’m doing wrong but came across this issue

I have the mic through a modelling pre-amp into my mixer. I then take the mixer audio out (in fact the recording outputs) into an input on the Delta card and have opened the corresponding input channel on the card. On the mairlist config the audio is setup with the players using outputs 1+2 and 3+4 and the input is set as asio analogue 3+4. The mic monitor is switched off
When I record the VT it all looks as it should, the level display is working.
When I switch to the mixing window to play it back with the music the mic recording sounds like it stutters and also speeds up/slows down whilst the music itself sounds fine. I have tried several configurations and the one constant is the problem with the mic recording.
Any ideas?

I have a Delta 1010LT too, but in testing I didn’t see this. I’ll try and do some more experimentation tonight or tomorrow if i can.

My config is
1/2 Player 1
3/4 Player 2
5/6 Cartwall
7/8 Cue/PFL etc.

Inputs are
1/2 Audio Main
3/4 Audio Sub (from mixer).

I’m using DirectSound for now, Windows 7 64bit latest M-Audio drivers.

Will report back.

Try to increase the buffer size in the ASIO config in mAirListConfig.

Just a little update. I wasn’t able to get a clear non stuttering voicetrack using the 3+4 input in the card and changing the buffer only resulted in several error messages.
I tried using the onboard soundcard for recording voictracks and this worked, but quality wise it was really poor. So I went back to the Delta card and changed the input to 7+8, left the buffer in the mairlist config at the default of 0. This worked perfectly.

So my setup is now

1+2 out directsound player 1
3+4 out directsound player 2
7+8 input ASIO with slider on stereo link at -12 on soundcard config

All this on XP SP3

Will have a more in-depth look tomorrow

Mixing ASIO and DirectSound on the same hardware isn’t a particular good idea. I’d try a pure DirectSound or ASIO setup.

I agree with Torben: pick just one method (ASIO or DirectSound) for each soundcard.

If you genuinely need to use both methods, an extra soundcard (or even soundcard plus the motherboard sound chips as an extra ‘soundcard?’) would be much more stable and reliable.

Frankly, the sound quality from most mobo audio chipsets made since about 1995 is more than good enough for FM broadcast, or even for streaming IMHO.

Thanks for the advice…the only problem I have now is how to use directsound for the incoming mic. Everything else works. I have pretty much read the Delta’s manual several times over today and just can’t suss out where to get the input from? Am sure it’s something really simple that I’m overlooking probably on the patchbay/router or monitor mixer settings.
When I had the mic in going through the onboard AC97 it was a bit hit and miss quality-wise.
I did try to go the ASIO route, but it started to get frustrating…
