When a playlist is loaded into the playout, it’s possible to have the commercials updated.
(In this case, the external commercial planner Admaster is used.)
The commercials cannot be updated automatically in the database itself.
Is it possible to have this happen? Or would it be a good idea to create an action that can be triggered by an event, for example, updating the commercials every night for a certain number of hours (or days).
Currently, this can only be done manually, and I think it would be a good idea to be able to automate this as well.
Following with great attention. We also use AdMaster and it is very annoying that the duration of a commercial block is not visible (technically speaking, it is showing 00:00) in the playlist when voice tracking.
In the past, I think I saw Torben reply this could be done using a script… however I never got this working. Any chance we get a bit more info? A pre-made script would be great, along with some instructions on how to actually deploy it. I’ve personally never used scripts in mAirList, however I have a couple of years of administrator-experience with it and know my way around the software.
I have previously implemented it as a script for a customer, but it’s not so easy because of all the parameters that need to passed back and forth. Maybe it’s more feasible to implement it as an action for the event scheduler, as suggested by @RuVo80.
It’s also possible that it will become less stable if a playlist checks for changes in the commercial blocks every time it loads into the database window. If an action can be created for this and schedule it with an event, then as an administrator you can determine when it’s executed.
It might be smart to allow a maximum number of playlists to preview, for example. Of course, not every station schedules the same number of playlists at a time, and if this could be a variable in the action, that might be useful. (Thinking out loud)
Of course, it would be ideal if all planned playlists were checked with the action in the future, but whether that will work stably and smoothly remains to be seen.
