Can Mairlist 5 or 6 use pitch control or similar to vary speeds of songs etc in automation to get to a hard timed junction without fading or cutting off the last song? ie a live newsfeed that clock starts at the top of hour. Also will it open and close an audio input on a sound card automatically at predetermined times?

Why not use backtiming for the last songs instead? It does mean however, that somewhere else a song will be cut off. If you don’t want that, you will have to schedule manually.
I can’t help you with your second question, but I’m sure this is possible.
What does the setting for the backtiming come under?
