The last post regarding soundcards was in August 2008. I’m wondering whether anything has changed since then. I’m considering two cards: either the Delta 44 or the E-MU 1212m. I have experience with the Delta 44 and have heard great things about the E-MU. Is there feedback on either of these cards, used with mAirList? Thanks!
One thing to keep in mind about the Delta cards is that they (accidentally?) removed the “independent” option from the latest driver release which is important for multi-channel playback on mAirList. M-Audio say they are aware of the problem and will re-add it, but for the moment, you need to manually install an older driver version in oder to make the cards work.
I have no personal experience with E-MU cards, but I know that several people are using them, without any major problems apparently.
Thanks Torben! It’s great to see the developer on the forums!!
My knowledge of sound cards and associated drivers is limited. Am I correct that whichever card is used, the driver of choice should be an ASIO driver?
ASIO works fine if it is available, but WDM works even better. That’s because the audio library I’m using (BASS) was originally developed for WDM and is “optimized” for WDM output. Ironically, when using BASS with ASIO, you get higher latency than with WDM, because BASS involves some internal buffering. (You can reduce the playback buffer on the BASS configuration page in mAirListConfig though.)
I got the delta 44 installed for a week now, unfortunateley I didn’t use it in mAirlist yet.
The Delta 1010LT works fine though, both cards are in my computer.
