Would it be possible to perhaps add an option into the Details page of a song in a playlist (or something similar) to make sure it ONLY plays out at X, regardless if the queue is empty? like a silence for the news.
Or perhaps ‘fade this out at X’ so scripts dont have to be used for that?

It can be done already… There’s a “hidden” player which Torben has published a script for - It fades all items and plays a News Ident. Obviously, the script can do whatever you wish - but that’s an example, or am I missing your point ?
At the very least, the Event Scheduler should be able to support what you’re asking.
I think this can be marked as done, considering the new automatic handling of fixed-time items.
