Remaining Time 'til full clock

Torben,

would it be possible to add a field at the top of the playlist (where the total playlist time is displayed) that indicates the remaining time to the next full hour for the current playlist? Currently playing song total time considered and substracted.

This would be especially interesting if the last song but one before full hour is playing. You could then seek for a track that matches the exact length and replace the one loaded in the cued player.

Does this make sense or is this functionality available somewhere else…

It’s on this list for when I redesign the toolbar (which I have actually started with already).

You can use the “countdown to the top of the hour” screen object in the mean time.

…“countdown to the top of the hour”…

Could you please point me to that. I cannot find it although poking around in any menu…

GUI -> Other Screen Objects -> Add -> Countdown to top of the hour

OK, got it.
But that’s not wat I was requesting. This label is indicating the remaining minutes to the top of the hour.

What I need is the remaining time to the top of the hour calculated from when the currently playing song has finished. This is rather a static indication that gets only updated on the next start of a player.
The main use of it would be to see which track length is required for the last song before the news.

Calculation should be something like following:
60:00 [nn:ss] - (TimePlayerStarted [nn:ss] + TrackTime [nn:ss])
This calculation should be triggered as one-shot calculation on every player start.

Sorry, seems like I got you wrong.

I’m not quite sure if this is the way I would perform the backtiming personally. Usually, I would just put the songs in the playlist (which has backtiming display enabled) and have a look at the start times displayed. You can easily see if there is a gap, and have a look for a song with a different length. A little bit of manual calculation is part of the job, isn’t it?

Perhaps I can make mAirList display the length of the gap or overlap along with every fixed-time item. So you just mark your news opener as being fixed at xx:00:00, and see how much gap there is.

Yeah,

no problem with that. For me it is just a nice to have thing anyway. The idea was just raised in a discussion recently.
I personnaly have no problem with calculating the remaining time for the last song ;D
And to be honest, I’m sure that even with this tool our DJs won’t finish on time. They never do!

I have to agree with Torben on this one.

Just switch on the backtiming in the Playlist, and you will see the start time of EVERY track in the Playlist.

Our DJs on Leith FM (in the UK) have to finish on the hour, because we take a news feed from Sky News!

I agree Cad,

the idea behind was to get the required length of the last Track before the newsflash and to replace the next Song with one that fits exactly in time.
But no Problem, I can calculate… ;D (hope the other Mods too)
