Problem with Player Sequence

It seems that most bug reports are placed here. The Bug Tracker is no longer used?

The latest build has a problem in the sequence of players. If you manually start a player in assist mode that is NOT listed as “next” and then put the system into auto, the same player continues to play the rest of the items and the other player is ignored. If you do the same, but do start the player marked “next” then all looks okay. That’s what my testing has shown.

Cheers, alec m

The problem has also surfaced using build 1486. Am using ASIO audio.
The reason I posted here is that Bug Tracker won’t let me login…

Have you checked the option “Only use a single player in automation mode”? If so, the automation will use the player that is currently active when you switch from assist to auto. (If no player is active, the first player will be used.)

This is very convenient because you can just switch from assist to auto and back as you like, and everything will be handled through the fader that is currently open on your desk. No need to open any other faders.

The problem as I encountered it was in live-assist mode, don’t use mairlist much in automation mode…I have disabled the automatic loading of players.
If I drag an item from the browser straight into the player the problem happens, but if I drag it from browser to playlist and then into player there is no problem.

Wait - when you’re in ASSIST mode, and automatic loading is turned off as well - then a player will never load any item on its own, right?

So what do you mean by

the same player continues to play the rest of the items and the other player is ignored

then? Ignored by yourself?

Um, you just combined quotes from two different posters, Torben! ::slight_smile:

Uhm, yes, sorry.

Perhaps Mike can clarify what his exact issue is, if it’s not the same as alec’s?

Ok, I’ll try to be as precise as possible.

  • I load a track in player 1 dragged from either browser window or folder.
  • I want that track to be linked to the following track and jingles.
  • The sequence of the tracks should play in order, but what it does is that it skips all tracks in the sequence apart from the final track.
  • If I drag another track into the player that was just used for the sequence the play button doesn’t respond, I have to click on stop to release the previous file, unload, reload and start. Even then it’s a bit hit and miss with playing the track…
  • If a track is already playing and I make that and the following to be played linked there is no problem
  • The problem has surfaced with the 3 latest builds of mairlist 4
  • The tracks used are just normal mp3’s and mairlist is in assist mode using ASIO

The auto loading of the players is something I have switched off for my own convenience. I prefer to load the players manually.
To summarise, the linking of tracks works if the first track in the sequence is already playing when the sequence is set, but if the first track in the sequence not playing when the sequence is linked it skips all linked tracks in the sequence apart from the last one and locks the player on finishing the linked sequence.

I hope that clarifies it a bit

Ok, so Mike’s issue is related to the linking of items in ASSIST mode, while alec’s problem is in AUTO mode.

I think we’re talking about two different issues here, which confused me.

Sorry, wasn’t my intention…

I haven’t encountered the problem since I upgraded to the latest snapshot… 8)

What version/build did you use before?

I am currently using build 1493 and the problem was with the 2 snapshots released before that one. I haven’t downloaded the latest one yet.

Then try the latest one first please. It addresses an issue that might be the cause for the problems you see.

ok, have updated and no sign of the problem…but will do a more thorough test later today.

All ok, have not been able to reproduce the problem with the latest build…
