New way of inserting a song in the playlist

Hi Torben,

In my project of having all the features accessible by keyboard, I have a feature request I’d like to see in future mairlist version (if you agree, of course).

Indeed, at the moment, when you double-click on an item of the browser, mairlist inserts the audio file at the very end of the playlist. The only way to insert it at the place you want to is to drag’n’drop it.
For me, I try to perform all mairlist main tasks with a keyboard (without any mouse). And so, I would like to propose you to create new actions for inserting the item at a different place than the bottom of the playlist.

Here is what I mean :
Action “BROWSER INSERT CURRENT” would insert the item immediatly after the current playing element.
Action “BROWSER INSERT SELECTION” would insert the item at the position where selection is made in the playlist.
Action “BROWSER INSERT BOTTOM” would insert the item at the bottom of the playlist (equivalent of the current double-click).

Is it an idea not too difficult to implement ? It would facilitate operations for users (like me) who will operate all the task only with a keyboard (standard or customizable, no matter).

Thanks for your reply Torben.

These commands have long been on my to-do list. They will be implemented in v3.0, taking advantage of some changes in the internal architecture introduced in that version.

Great ! Thanks Torben.

Hi Torben and Theo, the insert at bottom of a playlist was something a while a year ago. So the option to insert audio at top of a playlist may still remain in the config, although I cannot find this.

The other options suggested by Theo would be a welcome adition as would insert from browser straight to a player (using a keystroke/hotkey rather than drag and drop).

Kind regards Tony
