MLPE Format

Torben, can you briefly explain what an MLPE file is (beyond the obvious!)?

Is it kind of like a ZIPfile, or an XML somehow containing the audio data as well? Sorry to be so lazy, but I’ve had a very busy week in my new job (tech. support for a maker of EPoS equipment: Zonal).

Thanks in advance. ;D

It’s essentially the same XML structure as MLP, but only with relative filenames (no paths). All audio files are expected to be located in the same folder as the MLPE file as well.

When you save a playlist as MLPE, mAirList will copy all audio files into the same folder. The folder can then be moved or copied to any other location (or transferred to a different PC using an USB stick or network). When you open the MLPE file, mAirList will add the paths again, based on the new location of the folder.

The MLPE format is convenient when you want to prepare a show on a different computer (with no access to the mAirListDB, if there is any) and take the playlist and files with you into the studio. Many community radio DJs who prepare their shows at home will find this useful.
