Midi Error and AVG Virus warning

Hi Torben,

Two issues have just popped up. First up, I tried to install 5.3 on my production computer, but didn’t realise I needed to get a licence (I thought it would pick mine up), so I uninstalled it.

Since the uninstall of 5.3, the 5.2.6 (build 2993) version comes up with this error: “18/07/2016 00:09:17 Error Error (de-)activating object “MIDI”: Range check error”.

On another not, AVG thinks the mairlist.exe is a virus. See screen grab below:

Quick update, first error ignore. That was the result of AVG once again, (I’m beginning to dislike AVG), it also thought that rtpMidi was a IDP.ALEXA.51 virus, which from that I understand is a generic catch all.

I’ve since allow (white listed) both apps, so it shouldn’t happen again.

However, it might be worth double checking anyway, as this only happened after I downloaded the 5.3 and the latest 5.2.x snapshot build.

Might well be nothing, but you never know.

No idea what may have caused this. I am running anti-virus software on all development PCs, and the setup files are cryptograhically signed, so I am absolute sure that the setup is virus-free, and this must have been a false positive.

By the way, your 5.x license is valid for all 5.x versions, but you must download it manually after setup, it will not be picked up from the older version automatically. Remember that each minor release (5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3) is a separate application, technically.

Oh righty, gotcha.

I suspected that it was a false positive, as the identified virus was a very broad generic term.

One other thing, what is a “HTTP call failed: Read timed out.”

That’s just popped up on the playout system, but it doesn’t specify what model caused it. I’m thinking it could be the TuneIn radio api, but it doesn’t say.

Probably related to logging. Future versions will be more verbose.

That’s kinda what I thought. There’s only the TuneIn api and my own server in the logging section, and as my server is receiving track updates ok, I can only assume it’s TuneIn.

Thanks Torben.
