We are using the stream monitor for our external DJ’s and it is working flawlessly. Perfect tool!
We only can’t get the sending of metadata form the streams to work. As long as the automation is running everything is fine but once a stream monitor is live, the only thing sent is the “description” field from the stream monitor (Screenshot 1).
We are using icecast streams, I checked and we receive the metadata from the external DJ via Icecast. We have settings as in screenshot 2 and using the version 8 advanced server version
I double-checked the code and cannot see any obvious problem.
Two things to try to narrow it down:
Add a log file in the “Logging” section, set scope to “Execute when stream title changes”, and see if anything is written. Use %B as the variable for the actual stream title value.
Check if the title relay works when the stream is played through a Stream playlist item, not Stream Monitor.
I checked the recommendations and got nothing to work properly, not the logfile and not when we play the stream monitor via the playlist.
However, I think the issue will be somewhere else and I have not figured out how and why.
The basic, we have two streaming providers, we are in the process of switching from one to another and start using Mairlist for the automation.
So we have 3 outgoing streams: 2 shoutcats streams to the “old” provider (one low bitrate and one hogh bitrate), 1 Icecast stream to the “new” provider. This new provider is sending through the stream from the “old” provider. In that stream are ID tags. It looks like the Icecast stream is not sending ID tags at our end, so out of Mairlist. Once a stream monitor is live, we DO get the stream monitor description via Icecast.
What could I do possibly wrong which makes shoutcast send the ID tags and icecast not?
Hello Frank,
I don’t really get your signal chain yet.
Are all 3 outgoing streams directly streamed from the mAirlist encoder? 2 Shoutcast and 1 Icecast? At least that is they way I would set this up. Or is the Icecast picking up the shoultcast as the source and just relays it?
All 3 Encoders do have the same Item Types selected?
What exact Version of Icecast is that? I didn’t notice myself until last week that there is a new version 2.5 available and it seems they have changed a lot on the APIs compared to the 2.4.x versions. So I am sticking to 2.4 at the moment until I have time to do some proper testing, although 2.5 should be fully source client compatible.
What type of Server is your input stream that should be picked up by the Stream Monitor? Icecast as well?
