mAirList - the next generation

Hi, sad giving the game away from TV I watch but an apt title.

Firstly as everyone seems to have missed this in the English forums, Congratulations to Torben who you will notice from his signature is now Doktor.

I have already contacted Torben about the use of mAirList in a news and speech radio environment (which I feel gets overlooked) and the additional features mAirlist may need.

Personally in this area I would like to see features similar to those found in Radioman (jutel).

There would be no need to act as news gathering but rather data handling of speech audio stored.Ideal content would be news and features etc.

To support this the database component would need to track:

1.Date of first broadcast/event
2.Synopsis of story/feature
3.Audio file location
4.Location of supporting documentation. i.e the rtf document containing the story. Link in database to open the file.
5.Text notes as reminder/follow up
6.Cue In/Out (text note)
7.Keyword search

Such additions would make the management of News easier for stations to recall material for re-use as stories develop and re-surface.

I’m sure to have missed something, so please add to the list what you would expect.

Kind regards Tony

This sounds like a very good idea. At eldoradio, we have the same sort of sheet for any voice track, but at the present time only as a Word template. The author will place the completed form along with his audio file on the server, and the DJ will print it and take it with him to the studio.

The easiest way would be identify a comprehensive list of useful fields (your list seems to be a good start). I could then add these fields as new playlist item attributes, and introduce a new page in the item’s Properties dialog.

The mAirListDB database will use the same playlist items and also the same Properties dialog as already found in mAirList. So you will be able to store that information in the DB as well, and of course also search for it later.
