Hi there! New on the forums. I am starting up a community station next year in Holland, and I am trying out mAirlist as automation software. I have the mAirlist trial installed and try to use it with my Hercules FW16/12 firewire external audiocard. I have installed the right drivers and the card works fine with other radio-automation software, like Freeplayer and StationPlaylist.
However, I get a Bass_Asio error when I start the mAirlist configuration tool: “BASS_ASIO_init(0):Error 3”.
Also, if I connect the Hercules to my PC, mAirlist gives the error “mAirlist seems to be frozen” and does not start up.
I deleted the bassasio.dll file from the mAirlist directory and installed the latest .dll from the un4seen website. That doesn’t solve the problem either.
Error 3 means “The driver couldn’t be initialized”. Is there any other application accessing the sound card running at the same time? Have you tried using it in WDM mode (which is the preferred method for mAirList) in case it supports it?
Regarding the “application seems to be frozen” message, there should be a “Details” button in the error dialog. Please click it, and in the detailed error dialog, use the appropriate button to send a bug report (or save it first as a .txt file and then post it here).
I’m almost certain that it’s related to some broken driver installed on your system. Did you have any other ASIO enabled cards installed in your system that aren’t present anymore? Did you remove all of their drivers? mAirList opens each ASIO driver at startup to determine its parameters (number of channels etc.), and I know that there are a few sound cards whose drivers will hang if the card is not installed anymore, but the driver is. The detailed bug report should shed some light on this.
Ok, here’s the solution for the “Error 3” when you try to open the ASIO control panel for the sound card. It happens when the card is used in WDM mode at the same time - most sound cards don’t like being used with ASIO and WDM simultaneously.
In my case, the problem was the Playback Device of the embedded streaming Encoder (mAirListConfig -> Modules -> Encoder -> Devices). When start with a clean configuration, mAirList sets this to the first WDM device available in your system - bang! I had to set the encoder playback device to “No local output”, save and restart mAirListConfig, and then the ASIO control panel worked.
I installed the latest driver, that seems to do the trick. I’ll report how it works after the weekend, I have a big music festival to go to now. Thanks so far for your help!
