Torben,
Can you verify that the home-studio edition is functionally the same as the 3.1 Personal edition and not the community edition.
Thanks. Hopefully get some good testing at the weekend.
Regards, Richard
Home Studio v4 is equivalent to Personal Edition v3.
Professional Studio v4 is equivalent to Professional Edition v3.
Plus the new features, of course.
I’ve just had a 15-minute play with v4 and it’s really good - it certainly helps if you throw a v3 skin config at it and tweak the settings to match the new GUI options/features. I can certainly appreciate why people seem “lost” when faced with a totally fresh config layout and have many options to set (or not) !
I like the Mix Editor - especially the multi-select aspect (song/liner/song) for mixing overlays etc. The waveforms make editing transitions and setting cue points much easier and hardly worthy of pressing the “PFL” button
A notable “gripe” although I can appreciate the need for this during a beta phase - that’s the online validation aspect of the licence. I know of a few installations (ie: sensible ones) who won’t allow a playout machine anywhere near the internet so it makes life difficult with regards to licensing. Obviously the v4 isn’t intended for on-air use as yet but it’s just the most obvious thing that I could think of.
One can purchase dongles for this (we’re actively considering this).
+1 for playout machines NOWHERE NEAR the Internet.

Excellent Beta 1. I’ve got some work to do with regards my skin.ini etc.
Quick question, is this a feature or a bug, in the Waveform on the playlist players, as the position advances as the track is played, it erases the waveform behind it, but in the Cart waveforms it doesn’t?
Also, in the Cartwall, I notice that "Extra PFL’ has gone from the right-click menu, can we bring that back. Couldn’t find it as a config option?
I’ve added a couple of bugs to the tracker.
Thanks
I found a config option that changes the colour behind the cursor as it travels so I modified the bug entry as it appears the default colour is black in this case, hence why it looks like it vanishes.
Got to admit, I didn’t think I would care for the waveform display but I actually like it a lot.
Cheers, Richard
When you open the configuration and then go to audio devices it shows none. Also have not been able to update the database scheme on one of my databases (bug report sent).
Hi Torben, thanks for this release.
Obviously each user will have their own preference for the GUI, after 10 minutes we have switched off:
1.Waveform Display in players (too much going on)
2.Volume Slider (reasoning behind this, you can forget to turn it back on)
kind Regards tony
This is only during the beta phase, to enforce that noone will use the “public” beta licenses after September. The online validation will be removed for the stable release.
We had some problems with stolen licenses recently, so I had take some countermeasures.
Posting here as I can’t sign in to the bug tracker pages… :-[
Having downloaded the latest snapshot for v4 (build 1116) I noticed that on the audio devices options it now only shows PFL Player and Error Checking as changeble audio device options. The playlist options are still not visible.
Ah ok - the other nodes should become visible when you change the number of playlists or players.
I’m also uploading b1117 which should resolve this issue for good.
Have updated to the latest snapshot, audio devices are showing properly now.
Another few bugs I’ve just come across.
- When linking tracks together in the playlist it will show the green dot on the first track but not the red one on the last track in the link until the last track is actually playing
- When editing the mixes in assist mode whilst a track is playing it causes computer to crash.
- When playing in automation mode computer crashes

It appears that this was a problem with the drivers for the soundcards I use, all resolved now.

The issue with the red dot not appearing on the last track in a linked group until it plays, I see that too (b1117)
Forgot about that one…thanks for pointing it out. Still a problem to be looked at.
