Make the items “fixed” in the template (double-click the “Fixed?” column or use the Properties dialog). The background color will turn from green to red, and the item will stay in their order in the final playlist.
On the other hand, “floating” (green) items will be shuffled in the playlist - the idea is that you can specifiy the number/mix of items from each folder, but not their exact order, which is sometimes desirable.
This is a question for Torben and some may disagree. What it be better if all were “fixed” by default? It seems that most would build a playlist and assume they were indeed fixed (thus the reason for placing items in specific sequence in the first place).
I agree that ‘fixed’ is definitely a more ‘intuitively correct’ default setting than ‘random!’
Whenever I build a new playlist template, one of the first things I do is make sure EVERY item is Fixed; and I bet most mAirList users do the same (or they forget, and then do it later).
