Hide player buttons when in auto mode

I may be missing a confirguration setting but it strikes me that when a player is in ‘Assist’ mode the start/stop buttons next to the auto button are not visible and the audio is started by pressing the appropriate start button on the player (which makes sense)

However, in auto mode the player buttons are still visible but do not perform any tasks as starting the next audio is either performed automatically or using the start/stop buttons next to the auto button … so why not hide the player buttons when in auto mode??

Cunning idea, Ron, but I could imagine some people getting hysterical if all the Player buttons ‘disappeared’ in AUTO, without it being optional (and no Torben, NOT me!). Perhaps an even better option would be to ‘grey out’ the main Player buttons (NOT the PFL button: see below) in AUTO mode, rather than ‘removing’ them? (And yes Torben, I do realise that ‘invisible’ buttons is technically easier to do than greying out buttons! )

There is also a case for being able to PFL any Player at any time, regardless of AUTO/ASSIST mode. For example, you might notice a potentially ‘dodgy’ track coming up in 15 minutes and just want to double check that it is the version without all the obscenities (!).

I do think that the buttons should disappear. The problem is that, in the current architecture, the players do not know their correspondig playback control (playlist) object and the state it’s in

Ok, I finally found a way to accomplish this. Will be available from v2.1.38, of course optionally

Excellent Torben. That’s another thing you can score off your to-do list.

It’s getting shorter already …

Ok - while I am on a roll with this … I think you could get rid of yet another button!

When in auto mode - the two green buttons (‘start’ and ‘start next’ ?) are never enabled at the same time. i.e. when you press the green button in auto mode to start playing the playlist then that button becomes redundant and the ‘new’ start button is used to fade to the next audio item.

So why not combine them? Or at least ‘replace’ the original ‘start’ button with the ‘start next’ and revert back to the original ‘start’ button when the ‘stop’ is pressed.

Sorry if this is a little confusing - too many green start buttons

Ron.

Certainly right.
