Hello,
Would it be possible to add a ‘marked as played?’ option in an item’s properties and save this to MMD so that every time a file is loaded, it’s automatically marked as played but can be recycled by the presenter? For example, I could put a news intro into the playlist as greyed out just in case the presenter doesn’t show up and the news intro won’t play out in automation because it hasn’t been restored.

No, the history flag is an internal flag and cannot be saved to MMD files. Perhaps I can introduce an option for this, but it’s a little tricky, because the Playback Control sets/resets the flag as needed when an item is inserted into or removed from the playlist.
