FYI Windows 10 Audio security changes

In Win 10 1803 Build 17134.1
Microsoft have made a significant (undocumented) change in sound card
handling with the April Update.

You will now need to select PC Settings -> PRIVACY -> Microphone and TURN ON “Allow apps to access your microphone”.

The “Allow apps to access your microphone” now means “Allow apps to use sound devices for input”. If “Allow apps to access your microphone” is turned off, Windows will not pass audio to any application

Thanks for this very useful information.

Yes, this had me tearing my hair out (not that I have that much!) :frowning:

Thanx for the information. I checked it but at my systems (windows 10 april update) my microphone input was already on.

I’ve noticed this update has introduced some more subtle clicks and pops. I’m using the Behringer USB FCA610 I/O and pre upgrade was nice and clean. Now, I get subtle pops/clicks in the audio.

Oh well, gonna have to fiddle with the settings and all that!

Anyone else noticed similar?

Same problem here with d&r webstation… did you find already a solution for the hicks and clicks???

Same problem here:

Mairlist 5.3.16 build 3267
Windows 10 1809
Behringer FCA 1616 USB soundcard

After a couple of hours nonstop playing the system is going to hik and clicks.
Has someone already find a solution?
