File in use error on Voice Tracking import stage

Hi Torben,

When recording Voice Tracking using the VT system in mAirList, at the final stage of importing the recorded voice track, mAirList throws a “File in use error” and fails to import.

Help!

Program version/build? I recall there was a bug at some point.

It’s latest as far as I know, 5.2.4 build 2977.

I know there was a similar issue with Lossless AIFF files, which I think you fixed in a recent build.

But you’re not saving the voice tracks in the DB voice tracking folder in the first place, do you?

In other words, what’s set up as “Recorded Tracks -> Save to folder” in the Voice Tracking config must not be the same folder as the DB storage for voice tracks. Otherwise mAirList will try to copy the file onto itself.

Regard the “Save to folder” folder as a temporary one where the voice tracks are stored before they are copied into the DB storage. You can prune it every now and then.

Ah right, my mistake then, I was confused by the wording in the VT settings.

Maybe that should be defined in the VT settings as a temporary file for voice tracking. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Torben

If you chose not to import the voice tracks into the DB, but just do VT locally on your machine (or don’t use any mAirListDB in the first place), that folder ist not at all temporary!

But if you don’t import the VT after the recording, won’t that mean the VT won’t work as expected?

I noticed that mAirList ignored this particular VT, which I amused it did because it failed to import. It certainly didn’t load it in when the list executed 5 minutes later on Playout.
