Hi everyone,
I’m trying to generate a CSV file from mAirList containing metadata of the songs that were played, to be sent to collecting societies for reporting purposes. I’ve already created a log file, but I’m having trouble with the correct line format.
These are the fields I need to include in the CSV (one per column):
Title
Artist (main performer)
Label
Air date (dd/mm/yyyy)
Air time (hh:mm:ss)
Played duration (in seconds)
Phonographic producer
Author
ISRC
I have already added all these values as custom attributes in the mAirList database, so they are properly filled for each track.
What I’m missing is how to correctly write the line format for the log file to have all these values exported as a CSV, with , or ; as the separator.
Has anyone done something similar or could help with a working example?
That would be much easier because it has a built-in reporting tool where you can set your own data fields during the csv export… There are a lot of pre-defined export settings for different big collecting societies like GEMA/GVL, SUISA etc.
Hi! Unfortunately, I’m using the Home (Advanced) version. Sadly, in Italy we are required to follow the same reporting obligations and use the same tags as commercial radio stations.
What columns separator is expected from the collecting society?
Do you have an example how it has to look like?
Would you please be so kind to post your log file format (variables) here?
Maybe we will find a way to optimize it.
Something similar: Yes.
Just for my personal fun I create two csv logs for my continuing personal statistics Calc Sheet. One with all Elements, one music only.
I think, with that experience we should find a solution for you.
Please note that I can’t answer fast since I have very few time at the moment.
SIAE in Italy for web radios requires that a CSV file be completed, consisting of:
AUTHOR | PUBLISHER | PERFORMER | USAGES | SALE PRICE | WORK CODE | ISWC CODE | ISRC CODE
The mandatory data are: Title, Artist, Author, Total number of usages from January 1st to December 31st. The ‘Total number of usages’ refers to the number of times a track has been played
The situation becomes more complex with collecting societies for related rights (SCF or ITSRIGHT), where the claims are high.
TITLE | ARTIST | LABEL (P LINE) | BROADCAST DATE | BRODCAST TIME | DURATION IN SECONDS OF THE ACTUALLY BROADCASTED TRACK | ISRC – all fields are mandatory.
The string was created with AI, but I couldn’t get it to pull data like ISRC, etc.
“%i”;“%T”;“%a”;“%b”;“%f”;“%{Composer}”;“%{P Line}”;“%{ISRC}”
I also tried creating a script with gpt LOL, but after millions of attempts, I couldn’t manage to make it work.
Don’t worry, take all the time you need.
I’m sorry that such an essential feature is only available to Professionals. Nowadays, even with the creation of personal web radios, it’s necessary to generate reports in order to be compliant and operational.
It’s the first time I learn that such reports are mandatory for non-commercial webcasters, too.
In Germany, by example, the two societys GEMA (composers) charge a standard fee and GVL (labels) by the number of audio files to be used for streaming. I assume, in Switzerland and Austria it’s nearly the same.
However, I realise you use a script. Okay.
But Stefans question was good from this point of view: The mAirList Edition Professional Studio would be helpful.
As long as you can confirm to meet the rules as a “Home User” you can crossgrade your mAirList edition to Professional Studio by paying a difference price.
I don’t want to calculate against the company, but it could be (!) 100 Euro plus your local VAT.
Before you ask for an individual offer at sales@mairlist.com, please let them check if reports for SCF or ITSRIGHT are included.
If not, maybe Torben will update it in the next small update to make all Italian mAirList users happy without extra costs (no promise at all, but good experience from other situations like yours).
Unfortunately yes, in Italy there are very specific obligations, and even amateur web radios are required to submit reports of the tracks they play.
On the other hand, local FM or DAB broadcasters aren’t required to do so by SIAE, paradoxically .
If the difference is really that small, I’m fine with doing the upgrade.
The only thing is that on the Home Users page (mAirList for Home Users | mAirList Radio Automation) there’s no package available for professionals
Precisely. Usually Professional Studio for Home Users requires a manual check by the company. Don’t be afraid!
As you can see in the featurematrix, it can be compared to other editions and is available.
To be honest, some of the crossgrades must be done manually by the company and can not be bought automatically through the shop.
