Hello,

does anybody uses a Focusrite-scarlett18i20 (or same brand soundboard)?
And does the software work on that board?

Kris

Ok, to sum up:

You replaced your Behringer FCA1616 with a Focusrite interface, and since then, playback freezes every once in a while. It’s pretty obvious that the problem must be related to the this change in the audio configuration.

I have a customer who had the exact same problem with a Focusrite interface some months ago. They tried everything, from switching from DirectSound to WASAPI or ASIO, replacing USB cables, tweaking Windows power settings - no luck. In the end, they purchased a Behringer interface, and everything was fine.

This problem does not seem to be specific to mAirList. Do a Google search for “Focusrite Scarlett freeze”, and you will find tons of results:

Here’s someone who seemed to fix it by adjusting the buffer size in the Scarlett control panel: https://www.reddit.com/r/audioengineering/comments/28nzyx/scarlett_2i2_why_audio_stops_when_playing_a_game/

But I can’t comment on this. Never owned such an interface.

okay, update …

First try: pushing buffer to the max 20 ms and removing “Allow applications to take exclusive control of the device” did not do the trick.
For now it will be try and error: buffer now is still to its max and bitrate went up to 48khz (let’s try it that way)

I’ll keep you guys in the loop.
For futher ref: we run win 8.1 on an I7 intel system with a 500Gb ssd drive. Everything went perfect till our Behringer fca1616 died after 6 months of test running (unplugged it and it never came back to life).

Another last tweak in power managment: power settings and remove anything to do with power saving USB ports.
This could be a source of my probleme … could make some sense … the Previous board ran on firewire connection.

Update: still issues.
1 Playback often stop @ the top of the hour. Restarting the software 2 minutes later makes the hour run. (This one is on standby for now)
2 Tracks just stop playing. Still focused on the soundcard. Added USB2 cable from the pc to the soundcard. For the moment I focus on this issue.

another update:
software runs without issues sinds this afternoon.

Looks like it’s an issue with the USB3 ports (and hub).

I’ve recently seen an issue with Focusrite external killing playback in Logic on a Mac.

We concluded that it was due to the unit being Bus powered, rather than using the external power supply.

Once the external power was plugged in, the issue never came up. So I can only suggest that from experience.

Hope that helps.
