OK, I admit it: I’ve forgotten (yes, again! ;)) how to tell mAirList that I always want the same MLD file loaded at startup. :-[

Is this done by scripting, or by placing the MLD file in a special place and/or with a special name?

It must be named “standard.mlt” (mind the T), in the mAirList folder. Though I consider moving this to “config/” as well.
