Database server

Last week I installed the database cliënt on a laptop to work on the database.
When I’m home (on the lan) everything works fine.
When I make a hotspot with the cell phone I get a error after a minute.
Opent the firewall on the server pc (8940)
Made a ssl certificate (mairlist Wiki)
On the router I opened poort 8940

What else is there to try

Maybe you mixed up the numbers?

It is Port 9840, not 8940

Probably I mixed it up now,:grimacing: because I’m not at home now.
But when I installed everything I did it with the wiki so it’s good I think.
But for argument let’s say I mixed up the number why does it work at home then?

Let’s wait until you are at home and checked the numbers, okay?

Or phone wife at home :joy:

Yes it’s 9840

So how is your connection from outside set up?

  • fixed IP from your ISP?
  • dynamic IP?
  • VPN?

Always trough a cell phone (Vodafone) don’t know what kind of ip but dynamic I guess?
Somehow I can check that?

When you trying to log in from outside of your network you need to adress an IP. That’s the IP your Internet Service Provider linked you to.

So you need

a) a fixed IP that still remains the same even if you re-connect (most ISP provide a new IP on re-connect)

or

b) you always need to get the actually IP for your connection (mostly you can find it in the admin menu of your router)

or

c) a dynamic IP from Hosts like no-ip.com that are registered in your Router. No-IP.com will give you one IP that will reamin the same but your router will re-direct it to the actually IP you got from the ISP.

So an IP-Adress like 192.168.. will not work from outside of your network.

And that’s the one I used, will change and test it when I’m home.
Let you know.

Yes it’s working
In the port forwarding on the router I mixed up 89 for 98
And with the external ip adres it works.

Thanks
