Copy DB and changing directory

Hello,

I would like to create a new database based on the old DB (icons, Ramp, Start Next, etc…)

And move it to another drive C: > H: and also map the music files to the other drive (H:)

Can someone explain to me how to start without losing the old DB?

Gretings, Toon

Just copy the local database file (“yourdatabase.mldb”) to a new drive. Change the adress in the mAirList-configuration.

The files: If you have imported the files into the “storage locations” just change the targeting path to/for the main folder (C:\Music to H:\Music). The location in the mAIrList-database is saved in a relative path, not absolute.

Dear,

I am now getting a message that there are 2 open databases.

In the Configuration, I have unchecked the old database.

And the number of the old and new database are the same.

And when I synchronize the database, it wants to delete all the music tracks.

Then you didn’t follow my clear instructions.

Open the configuration and CHANGE the path to the copied database file.

Theres no word about making a new entry in the configuration, right? :slightly_smiling_face:

And please: Don’t format your textes like this:

It’s extremly hard to read on a smartphone as you have to scroll left and right ro read the whole message.

This “format” is intended for posting code.

Dear,I am new to the forum and perhaps for that reason I do not have knowledge of the forum and its customs. Now i know and wil use an other lettertyp.

Following your advice, I dutifully purchased Mairlist and thought that I would be able to find or obtain the information here as well.

An answer like this is not help me and does not solve my problem; perhaps an answer with a screen might provide some help.

In my best i have tray to do you say.

No problem with this. This hasn’t been the first time a user mixed this up so I just explained it to you.

Dear, exactly following the instructions would have solved it. Did you give it a try?

Copy the database file to the new location.

In the mAirList configuration now change the path to the copied database file by double-clicking your originally entry.

Then select the copied database from the new location by clicking this:

After this start the database app and change the new storage locations in the database app.

then change the path of your storage location.

To make it easy I highly recommend to exactly mirror the files and folders on the other hard disk.

Then just change the first letter for the harddisk ( C:\Music should be H:\Music and so on) in every storage location.

Restart mAirList and you should see a fully intact database. To test your success please open the synchronization dialogue again.

No warnings, no errors should appear if you exactly followed this explanation.

Hallo,

This aksplane whas loud and clear. Top.

this works correctlie, no faulure and everiting looks good.

I have two data-base one i have blanked out.

But stil i get the massage that there are two of the same Database ID numbers when i star Mairlist.

Or is it not posible to have two DB’s here?

Not with the same IDs, only with different IDs.

It’s not logically but mAirList “sees” the other dB no matter if you deactivate the database. You need to a) delete it from the config or b) let mAirList re-set the ID.

Thank’s

now i have it delet. I do not know how to Reset the ID but sofar this Topik is for me OK

Hi Toon,

You can reset the database ID by opening the database options in the settings, go to tabpage ‘Settings’ and clear the field ‘Database ID’, and when it’ is empty, click on the ‘refresh’ buttons with the two arrows.
