Containers

Another day busy preparing our new look and feature set for mAirList, here is hopefully a use for containers and hook containers. I’m sure stations such as community services and others that may not manage playlists with scheduling software will find this a plus when using ads and public service announcements.

Containers

In these examples we are going to use them for ad breaks and public service announcements/community features.

Ad Breaks
First open mAirlist and into a blank playlist drag:
1.station ident
2.any ad
3.any other add
4.perhaps a sponsor tag
5.station ident

Select all these and right click and then select Create container.

Remove the 5 items above from the playlist, leaving the container intact. Save this playlist into a folder called Ad breaks as ad?.mlp

Public service announcements repeat above, replacing ads with features, remember to include a sponsor tag if the feature has one. Again create a container then remove the audio files, leaving the container, and save to a folder called PSA or Community Features.

Hook Containers

Assuming you have created hooks in all your music, we can use these to fake station music positioners.

Set the hook opener/sweeper/closer in the config tool.

Into a new playlist drag X number of music tracks. select and these and right click. This time right click and create a Hook Container.

Remove from the playlist the music files, leaving the hook container and save as a playlist into a folder called Hooks.

To re-use any of these, ensure the folders are visible in the browser and drag each container (which appears in the browser as a mini-playlist) into the playlist itself.

Best bit of the hook container it now acts as a music postioner rather than trailing a song definitely coming up.

It should simplify things for stations that manually compile playlists that include ads (just remember to note what ads are in each container, ensuring the correct number of daily plays).

Kind Regards Tony

edit

What is needed now is a script to load a container (in this instance saved as a .mlp) on a random basis from a specified folder. The script should run from within a playlist to make each instance unique, any takers?

Hi Torben, noticed that although the config of hook repository is complete, nothing plays from the directories specified between track hooks.

Any thoughts?

edit; saving the hook container as a playlist does not work, though yesterday I could have sworn it did. When you reload the playlist it plays the whole files.
