compiled help file

Hi Torben , sorry to be a pain. The help file opens Ok but each page is blank/unavailable.

I will try on another PC to see if its me.

Kind Regards tony

hi,

I noticed the same on my laptop… but on another computer it was fine…

But nevertheless I have the feeling, that in the chm file is not everything included(or i don’t know if its my machine or the file;))… for example I can’t find the description from the “SetPort” funktion of IOWarrior:-/

greetings, michi

Seems to be an issue with the tool I use to generate the file. I will investigate it.

Could be a security issue with Internet Explorer shiver Read this: http://www.helpscribble.com/chmnetwork.html

Seems to be evident. On my machine, I can open the file as long as it is on the local hard disk. When I copy the file to a network share, it won’t open (Internet Explorer error message displayed.)

Torben

Many thanks Torben, followed the advice in the link you gave and all is OK.

To solve the issue without registry edits:

Click to clear the Always ask before opening this file check box in the Open File-Security Warning dialog box, and then click Open. Alternatively, right-click the file that you want to open, click Properties, and then click Unblock. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902225/ for more information.

If I remember, is this the issue where WinHelp32 refuses to display HTML-type help content?

If so, it’s probably better to apply the Registry fix if your PC has not already applied it from Windows Update. It can affect lots of CHM files if you don’t. I have a REG file somewhere to do this painlessly. I can find it and post its contents here if anyone needs it.
