Bug? Mini Scheduler tends to pick one artist over and over again

Hi,

I’m using mAirList 4.0.2 (Build 1242) and the Mini Scheduler to generate a new playlist for the next hour; the playlist is generated through a script once an hour. For some reason the Mini Scheduler tends to pick AC/DC (Don’t ask me why mAirList is such a massive AC/DC fan lol!) over and over again, sometimes selecting 3 songs in a row – despite the rotation consisting of 1870 songs by 310 artists. I’m using the default settings for separation rules. This does by far not happen every hour, but when it happens it is very annoying.

Does this have anything to do with AC/DC containing a “/” in the artist’s name? Does the scheduler see this as two artists perhaps?

Well, perhaps there is a solution out there. Torben?

Usually this happens when there is no “perfect” match for a slot in a playlist, so mAirList picks a song that does violate at least one of the rules, but not as bad as other songs would. Weights, you know.

I plan to add a permanent debugging facility so you can check which songs were selected for a particular slot, and for which reason. So a list of all candidates and their weights, essentially.

Hmm… that would make sense, somehow. But why does the scheduler almost always choose AC/DC? Because it’s on top of the list (“A”)? Could you perhaps try to make it select a random item instead?

Thanks Torben.

Almost impossible to tell without a debug log file. The name doesn’t really matter.

ID in the database perhaps? When the files were imported into the database, they were imported artist by artist – with AC/DC being the first artist at the time, probably a hundred tracks by them to be added to the database in one batch.

Just guessing here. Please let me know once there’s any kind of debug facility to find out. I find that “mini scheduler” a very useful tool nevertheless. But them I’m mAirList fan anyway

No, neither the artist nor the ID will make a difference.

During initialization, the items of a particular folder are sorted by the time/hour last used, and those songs that haven’t been used for the same period (or not at all) are shuffled randomly.
