Hello everyone,
As a happy mAirList user, I’d like to know if there’s a way to set up a backup player.
The goal would be to automatically switch the hardware to a secondary mAirList player in case the main player crashes.(Note: I’m referring to software-only solutions here.)
If this is possible, is there a way to keep the backup player synced with the main one? Ideally, I’d have a master/slave setup, where the slave is ready to take over instantly if the master fails.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
Best regards,
Damien

This discrepancy alone makes the task difficult. And no, in mAirList there is no such functionality. Besides that, it is massively unlikely that a single player crashes in mAirList. If there should be an issue (which is highly unlikely – mAirList runs impeccably stable) it rather happened that the whole software freezes, with all players together (backup included).
What I want to express is that a reliable backup solution must always be hardware-based.
Thank you very much for your quick response.
Indeed, this isn’t an easy question. (I’m not questioning mAirList’s stability—it’s truly incredibly stable.)
My question is whether it’s possible to sync two mAirList players down to the second using different methods (network, protocols, etc.).
On the hardware side, as a technician, we can always rely on solutions like:
-
Silence detectors,
-
Watchdogs
-
Other failover systems.
I think this discussion could be very technically interesting for other forum members.
Thanks again for your response!
Best regards,
Damien
