I am looking for a solution to add an extra column in the database search results in the browser. We want to use this option more often instead of the regular database view.
We have a column bitrate that is shown in the database view.
The value is important to be able to select the correct track. (We also have a custom attribute called album to see if the track is a top 40 version or a album track but that is less important). How do I implent it in the browser database view?
I see an old topic about 15 years ago, so I am not sure that is still relevant.
This a post from 10 years ago where Torben speaks of an advanced view. I am not that familliar with the old versions but could it be that the database button is a result of that request? I do not see an other feature request regarding this.
Can you tell me what feature request you mean so I can +1 it. If not present, I would like to add the feature request.
That’s a feature request that’s more done in threads throughout the forum.
AFAIK it’s not possible for Torben to implement more columns because of the Evolution of mAirList.
But why don’t you use the standalone database app for searching? You can copy an element with CTRL+C and insert it in the playlist with CTRL-V.
(I suggest to use the standalone app, because the db window startet from the Playout freezes the GUI of the playout when doing long lasting task like extensive searches!)
Or, as I do it, add important or additional notations in Square Brackets (or any separator you want) subsequent of the Title and use this script from @tondose to remove everything in between the seperators only when loaded into the player…
So you can attach the information right to the Title info and see it right in the Browser…

So there is no sight on how many people want this.

It would be ideal to pick tracks from the browser and use the external database app for management purposes. So it is really a shame that one extra column can not be added.
Regarding your workaround. Does that script use the original values and does it combine them or do I need to update the values of the title field?
So drag & drop is not possible? That’s the point. (As it doesn’t matter which window you’re getting your elements from: Browser or main window. And using the main DB window for searching isn’t forbidden either.)
It doesn’t. It would be possible to read and attach the value to the title while inserting the element into the playlist, but that is too late regarding your workflow.
In my view freely definable columns in the browser would be a true benefit, and it is not clear to me why that should not be possible to achieve.

I think Stefan is refering to CTRL-C and CTRL-V as an option when drag & drop is not available(for example, use on one monitor). I totaly agree that when there is a DB Window for searching it should be used and if possible without these restrictions.

No I that is indeed not helping me. For the playlist I have added that column already. But you need to put all tracks in the playlist in order to see which one to play.

I totally agree that it should be possible to add definable columns. I don’t know if there is a moderator that can move this topic to Feature requests? Otherwise I will create a feature request.
