OK so scenario:
mairlist is playing in auto mode, playing using playlist, we have 100 test tracks so not using any databases.
In our test , because not all music can be guaranteed to be cut perfect, we have a couple of mp3’s that fade out like CD but may have several seconds of “basically dead air” before next track starts playing.
In my previous life at a community station that was back in hrmmm 2009 i think, used mairlist, version 2.1 and whatever we did we could never stop this either, but it seems 5.3 has the same problem??? after all these years from 2.1 to 5.3, surely there is a level setting that once audio drops under XX db the next track starts playing especially its within the final 15 seconds or so of teh track???
Perhaps I am just as clueless now as I was then and teh answer was in front of me but cannot see it
Normally the Auto Cue function should analyze any track added to the playlist (unless it already has a mAirList ID3 tag, MMD file, or is registered in any attached database), setting the Fade Out marker at an appropriate point before the end of the track, according to the volume thresholds set in the config:
Also make sure to use the latest version, there was a bug which would ignore the fade markers algother. Happend very, very rarely (in particular when you had hundreds of tracks in the playlist), but just use the latest version to rule out that this is the case here.

Since we are testing we have the latest off website from two weeks ago. There would be no markers set since they are called in from directory folder, our test batch is only 100 mp3’s, our production using other software has tens of thousands of mp3’s.
And this auto fadeout , this is from the PFL? Is there no global setting? or is that what AutoFadeOut=off is supposed to do?
Don’t mix up “Auto fadeout” with “Auto Cue”. Auto Cue is the important part, as it analyzes all files and then sets the Cue In, Fade Out and Cue Out markers to appropriate values. “Auto fadeout” will then uses these markers later. (In AUTO mode, auto fadeout is always on, of course; in ASSIST mode, there is an option to turn it on, but most of the time it will be off, as the DJ is performing the mixing).
Anyway, you say that there are absolutely no cue markers in the Cue Editor for those files? Also not for new files that haven’t been part of the old music archive?
First of all, go to mAirListConfig -> Misc -> Auto Cue, and double check that the function is enable for all three marker types?
