Talk over option

Hello,

Does mAirList have a talk over option?
A button that temporarily lowers the volume when a radio announcer speaks and then raises the volume back to normal levels.

ZaraStudio had a designated button.

Thank you.

Yes, this is possible.

Please add a screen object “Encoder” to mAirList via…
[tt]Configuration > GUI > Screen Objects > Add… > Streaming encoder status > Options > Show MIC button[/tt]

Setting the parameters for activating ducking on “microphone is active” is here:
[tt]Configuration > Encoder > Options[/tt]

Have fun!

Hello Uli Nobbe,

Thanks for replying and please excuse me if I sound really silly, but how do I find the Screen Objects.

When I go to Configuration / Control Panel I can see the GUI option. When I click it “Item Colors” appears but no “SCreen Objects” or “Streaming Encoder Status” or anything like that.

Am I doing something wrong? Or, is there something wrong with my mAirList?

Thank you again.

1.) Yes. 2.) No.

You tried to open the configuration right out of a running instance of mAirList (see screenshot 1).
On this way you have not the full functionality as in the onfiguration started out of the Windows menu when mAirList is not running (screenshot 2).
Please note the difference between “Control panel” and “Configuration”. Got it?

So I propose following steps:

[ul][li]Stop the actual running mAirList instance.[/li]
[li]Start the Configuration right out of Windows.[/li]
[li]Add the screen object and configure it as wanted.[/li]
[li]Save the configuration.[/li]
[li]Start the Layout Manager and place the new screen object wherever you want.[/li]
[li]Start mAirList again.[/li][/ul]

I hope now it’s successful.

Hi Uli Nobbe,

Thank you, this is making a lot more sense. You’ve been very patient with me.

Hoping you can help me a little further?

I’ve managed to pop the MIC button into mAirList (Screenshot 1).

I tried it out by having some music playing, and I pressed the MIC button and the music didn’t dip / lower / duck. I went back to the configuration and tried lowering the Ducking level to -18. (Screenshot 2) Went back to mAirList and tried again but it doesn’t appear to work. The music doesn’t lower temporarily.

Am I missing a crucial setting somewhere?

Thank you again!

Hi Tuesdaydrive,
your setting is almost correct. Have a look at the options Check Boxes.
3rd from the Top enables the feature and is not checked in your config.

Cheers
Malte

Hi Malte,

Thanks for replying.

I’ve ticked the “Duck player volume” and even lowered the volume further (Screen shot 1) but still when I press the “MIC” button nothing happens (Screen shot 2).

Thank you again

OK, how does your audio Routing look like. Do all Players play out directly to the Encoder and the Encoder Monitor is all you play out to the soundcard?

This time Malte was on the fast track while I was working on screenshots.

However, my questions are nearly the same:

[ul][li]What about your audio routing?[/li]
[li]Which microfone is routed on which way to mAirList?[/li]
[li]How do you realise that ducking is not working?
Are you monitoring yourself? How?[/li][/ul]

Please let us take part in your setup and routing and hopefully we can figure out what the problem is.
