Latest version and snapshot of Mairlist, our news is delivered as a mono mp3 file, a small glitch is heard on air once the file finishes playing, it isn’t in the file, but is a quick couple of milliseconds of the audio in the file that plays. It has only been since upgrading to 6.2 (and I note an updated bass.dll). Anyone else had the issue?
Would you please send us one of these files so we can test with it?
Simply drop it to mairlist.com/upload.
Thank you.
Thanks - I just did, the file is called ‘Pulse 941 question regarding mp3 files here is a sample mp3 for testing latest_bulletin’
We are using version 6.2.3 build 4140 of mAirList
The latest Axia IP audio driver, using directsound, on a 64 bit windows 10 machine (stripped of much of the bloatware, with auto updates disabled)
Thanks, I have tested it right now.
Couldn’t hear any “special” sound and didn’t see something extraordinary in the waveform.
In my ears, there was no difference between Direct Sound and WASAPI (recommended).
However, would you please try WASAPI instead, if possible?
Maybe I should record your stream at 12:00 p.m. GMT?
I have just uploaded a file called ‘glitch’ from our station logger. The glitch can be heard at 3 seconds into the file. The glitch isn’t part of the original audio file, but something that happens once the file has finished playing, that mAirList adds in, it sounds like a random grab of audio from the mp3 file. Could it be something quirky with the bass.dll? It only happens with some mp3’s, possibly mono mp3’s
Yes, thank you.
Unfortunately, it sounds familiar to me - remembering a customer having the same problem with external news.
Well, we solved it that he now uses WASAPI instead of DirectSound.
This is something very technical; Torben thinks that there is a small buffer remaining - maybe on those mono mp3s? - when the file comes to its end that has to be played out instead of it is “deleted” (not played). Maybe a kind of buffer overflow or something like that.
You are - only!
- the second user reporting this issue. From my point of view, this does not happen to all users having the audio device running in WASAPI mode.
Would you please change this and report again?
Thank you.
Cheers, Uli
will do and will let you know - thanks!
Done - and no longer an issue. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback. This will help other users.
Have fun!
