Scheduling

Alright. I got a demo license so I can work past the 30 minute restriction.

Here is my problem. I am trying to set up scheduling with the mini scheduler. But the problem I am having is this. I can not figure out how to add jingles or sweeper to the mix. It will only allow me to pick from folder listed in the music folder. I want to be able to pick from jingles and sweepers as well as live feeds and such.

What am I missing? I have read over the manual for this section, but just cant seem to locate the one thing I am trying to do.

Troy

Got it!

I though you could set up virtual folder under the types. Clearly I was mistaken.

Correct, Troy.

A Type in mAirListDB terms is a specific, one-per-item ‘special tag’ if you like. Each Item can have a Type (typically this will be Music or Voicetrack or Jingle)/ mAirList will use the Type to show an icon beside each Item when it is in a Playlist — but like just about everything in mAirList, this is configurable, so you can choose to not show icons in the Playlist (manual, top of page 52 of the PDF).

This is the sort of thing I meant when I recently said that you can relatively easily make mAirList into the perfect, uniquely tailored playout system for your station. Forget any ideas about being forced into doing things a particular way; better to think out (and sketch out) what you want and need in a playout system. You’ve already gone for three Players: that’s my preference as well, funnily enough! I also like 25 Cartwall players (5×5), but I may rethink that because Cartwall Stacks mean you can properly rotate your generic idents using only one Cartwall Player. (A Stack works exactly like an old-fashioned cart which has several cuts on it, if that helps?)

You can next move on to things like what buttons you want to show on Players; what colour you want a Player to be when it’s stopped/cued/playing; what colours you want Playlist items to be, ditto; do you want a PFL and/or ramp countdown overlay on the Playlist and if so, what size, colour, font; do you want the date and mins/secs to the hour on the screen? Encoder levels window? And finally, what do you want where on the screen? This and much more is possible!
