Hi,
Would it be possible to show the year of release (taken from the ID3 tag) in the playlist? That would be very helpful.
Thanks.

+1 for that thought. I was thinking the same the other day.

In my opinion, the release year is irrelevant for 99% of the users. In other words, it would only waste space on most peopleās screens. Thatās why I wouldnāt want to introduce it as a new default column.
Thereās also a lot of other columns that some people would want to have. Album name or something.
What about a feature that lets you add custom columns to the playlist? The format for the column can easily specified through the existing log variables mechanism.
It could be a default column, but with the option to either switch it on or off in the config. Those who donāt want to use it, leave it off, those of us who do, switches it on. That seems to me ā as a non-programmer ā the easiest option.
But I have no problems with custom columns either. As long as there is a way to do it, Iām all for it!
Oh, and remember that āYearā is not one of the standard fields for mAirList playlist items. Itās only one of the user-definable attributes, just like āGenreā, āAlbumā, āFavorite day of the week to play this song onā, āColor of the singerās hairā or whatever you wish to maintain as attributes
Thatās one more pro argument for implementing this through a āadditional (attribute) columsā function.
By the way, did I mention that thereās a āno new featuresā phase for mAirList now for the next couple of months? Thereās some other projects I have to work on, including a very special one in August (Cad knows what Iām talking about).
Or perhaps an "Track Infoāā button on the playlist. It could open a window over the browser showing any info items enabled globally in Config (year, artist, album, last played [backsell], next scheduled play [frontsell], etc).
Regards, Alec
You can already see part of the tag info by right-click and properties in a playlist although itās not the most user friendly option. Maybe add something that when you hover your cursor over item in playlist it will display the expanded track info if available?
