Playlist on multiple systems

Not sure if this is covered already, but is it possible to have the followng?

For example - say a radio station is based in two buildings opposite each other, and after 10pm, the main studio buildng is locked. However, in the admin building across the way, (which shares the same computer network), there are staff present 24/7 to answer phones, etc. Whereas there is no live presenter on-air, the staff are still there.

Would it be possible for the staff in the office building to view and manipulate the playlist showing on the screen in the studio from the office - but only when the studio has allowed them to? For example, there could be a switch like the On Air/Off Air switch on the ‘master’ PC to say whether the ‘slave’ can or cannot alter the playlist (but it can always view it). Then, on a seperate install of mAirList in the office, in the configuration section, there could be an option for ‘mirror other system’ along with a space for an IP address?

I think a remote-desktop prog like PCAnywhere or Radmin (which we use throughout our stations) is really what you want. There isn’t a provision to edit the current playlist without re-loading it at the studio-end…

You can fire an mAirList Command (the standalone network util) over the LAN/WAN and make a remote mAirList “do something”, but playlist refresh isn’t one of them. You’d have to delete the playlist up to the current playing item - then save it and fire an “append playlist” event…

Quite long-winded!

There are plans to implement this, in a way such that more than one GUI can be attached to a single mAirList instance, even across a network. However, this requires a lot of work …

If you need a hand with anything (bar programming, that isnt my strong point!), I’ll be more than happy to help.

Convince my boss to grant me two extra months of holiday

Hehe, I can only try!
