New To mAirlist

I am very impressed thus far with this program. I have a few questions that I would like to find answers to.

  1. I see that the program will allow for remote start. Is there a mixer that anyone can suggest that would be, somewhat, plug and play? I know there will need to be modifications as far as buttons go, but what do people recommend? I am looking at buying the Behringer DX 2000?

  2. Is it possible to have more then 2 decks visible for playback?

  3. Does the voice tracking do auto ducking? (I have seen many posts about this, but nothing really all that recent?)

  4. I love the fact that the interface can be customized to fit each persons needs. Is there anyone who does custom layouts for people on this forum? I am NOT good at scripting and would hate to mess anything up.

  5. In the case of a power failure or shutdown, does mAirlist resume where it should be in the playlist, or does it start the hour over again?

  6. I see that back timing is available, but have a bit of difficulty following if it will fire top of the hour ids as close to the top of the hour as possible or will it finish the hours playlist?

I am sure I will come across more questions as I play around some more.

Thank you in advance for the response(s).

Hi Troy,
and welcome to the mAirList familiy.

[ol][li]Any Mixer with GPO would be suitable for your needs. The secrete is within the interface to the computer. Only professional mixers are supported by mAirList directly, via LAN or RS232 communication. As I read before, the D&R Airence should be Plug and play, but mAirList 4 professional only.[/li]
[li]Yes, refere the manual how to setup, you can have as many players as your hardware supports.[/li]
[li]I guess not, but probably somebody else can answer more detailed[/li]
[li]Just give it a try, most things can be done w/o scripting. If you get stuck, just ask a specific question and you will get answers. [/li]
[li]mAirList will do, what you tell it to do. Normal use case for automation is, to load playlist for the current hour and start playing it. In this case it will start from the begginning of the playlist.[/li]
[li]mAirList can do a lot, you just need to tell it, what to do. I saw a request on the german forum for a similar task and a far as I remember, it was solved.[/li][/ol]

Cheers

Awesome. Thank you for that information.

I tried working a bit with the layout designer and had little luck. But I was able to get it to look the way I wanted by simply checking and unchecking settings.

Is there a way to make the players load in the playlist order? I am sure there is I just have not found that feature yet.
(Meaning if player 1 plays, short sweeps plays in 2, player three starts, player 1 still fading so the ext song load in 2. Would prefer to have it with for 1 to finish then load 1, then 2)

OK So I do have a few more questions.

I am trying to find where you can set each categories (music, jingle, sweeper, voicetrack) color so that it will not need to be set per cut?

I have to say that so far I am really enjoying the flexibility of this program.

Also, I have 3 players set up. Something rather stupid, but interesting, as the playlist scrolls thru, the top item, which is always whats on air, always appears cut off. Meaning the artist will show but the title is above the boarder. I can get to it by scrolling up or highlighting the track, but is there something that I am missing for this as well.

Thank you for your patience with this program. There are SOOOO many options to understand!

Troy,

Re the auto-ducking: my IVP script does exactly that. The posts about it are not very recent because the last time I needed to change it was some time ago. Moral: don’t judge the relevance of a post by its age!

Note that to use IVP, you DO NEED a music library properly marked up with Ramp, FadeOut, and ideally Outro cue points.

More than one user here uses IVP to prep. their playlists for on-air use.

Also: you need to use the mAirList Layout Designer to change the size/placement of GUI objects like players. The manual explains how to use that.
