Here is a question about networking. Let’s say there are two separate radio stations e.g ‘radio a’ and ‘radio b’ and on a Saturday night they both share programming. But they want to keep it local with split links etc…
‘Radio a’ is the network ‘hub’ where the presenter is along with all of the music etc and ‘radio b’ just has there network fader up taking the feed from ‘radio a’.
So what needs to be done is that when the presenter at ‘radio a’ fires a station jingle it will also fire the same jingle on ‘radio b’ but with the ‘radio b’ imaging etc (you get what i mean)?
What I was thinking was to have a seperate computer with mairlist on and to have 2 sound cards. then have a hotkey so when e.g ‘f1’ is pressed then ‘radio a’ and ‘radio b’ jingle is fired down 2 seperate feeds. Is this possible?
This is what Regional Containers are for. You may need to upgrade your mAirList licence to switch this feature ‘on.’ (You can check in Config., in Advanced, Modules.)
I think (after Torben!) that Charlie Davy is the expert on using these.
I’m a real n00b. I don’t know what any of that means (apart from the upgrade bit) Is it possible to just have a separate computer with two soundcards so that when f1 is pressed ‘jingle for radio a’ is fired along with the one for b? they would then go out of seperate soundcards
Content for Region A goes to soundcard output 1, content for Region B goes to soundcard output 2 etc.
(There can be up to 255 regions, you can freely route the signal to any available soundcard output, and in v4 you can even create encoder connections with the appropriate submixes.)
You need mAirList Professional Studio and the Regionalization option though. This is something not usually required by Home Users.
I was asking on behalf of a student Station I work at! they use mAirlist and asked me if I knew how… So I thought I’d ask the forum. I’ll tell them this info- Thank you!
