mAirList 1.5.45 released

Hi.

Here’s another release, with the following notable changes:

  • Remove playlist font setting from mAirList.ini, must now be set through skin.ini.
  • Config: You can specify whether to load/save the event list inside the .mlp files.
  • New command: PLAYLIST x SWAP y z. Swaps the items of player y and z, which must both be loaded but not playing. Also available from scripts, as IPlaybackControl.SwapPlayers.
  • When using the clock and/or date labels and layout.ini, speficying the height and with of the label is mandatory now. Text will be centered inside this box.
  • The colors of the Outlook-style browsers can now be customized through skin.ini. See the updated documentation.
  • Bugfix: EOF and fade/cue out points weren’t detected when using ASIO or software mixing.
  • When loading from radioDB2, the end type will now be imported.
  • Various minor bugfixes.

Hi, I was still running on 1.5.41 so just wondered where the skin and layout ini files are when you unzip the latest release?

Kind regards Tony

You need to create them yourself  Same folder as mairlist.exe

Correct. The reason is that mAirList now automatically enables custom layout in case a layout.ini file is present. So it’s not useful to provide a sample layout.ini file, because custom layout would then be enabled in a freshly installed mAirList.

Torben

Does anyone have a sample layout and skins file that I can take a look at?

Cheers,

Matt

Matt: If you haven’t already seen it, my files are in this thread:

They should give you a good leg-up, even if you hate the colours (!).

Cheers! They are a bit bright! :stuck_out_tongue:

They are a bit bright!
That's because our presenters are a bit dim! BOOM BOOM! ;)

But SERIOUSLY though…

…I did say these were works in progress, and that definitely includes the colour schemes. They will evolve into something slightly less garish, but for my current mAirList testing, garish is a good thing. It saves me having to squint at the screen to decide whether a Player is coloured (for example) Lime Green or Leaf Green!

That said, I am a firm believer in having Players ‘dark’ when empty, ‘lit up’ when loaded, Green (for Go) when On Air, Yellow when Paused, and a dimmer Green when either Next or Fading.

This makes a good visual metaphor for the ‘life cycle’ of a track as it passes from Playlist to Player to On Air to Played Items list, if you see what I mean? Also helpful when training presenters.

PS: If you think my mAirList colour scheme is a bit, er, ‘primary’ in its colour choices, you should see the actual console screen originally used on the Archimedes (remember those?) computer which controlled the question stacks/graphics in the ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ TV show. I would describe its design and colours as ‘Now That’s What I Call “Functional” Vol. 1!’

I aggree with the use of bright colours now - have been using it for a couple of days and it does make it easier to understand! The only thing that I need to sort out is making the playlist colours a different colour - because at the moment it confuses the eye with it below the players!

I took Cad’s skin file and had a play - Ended up with this screen:

full size version here

I wouldn’t mind a “foreground” colour setting - This would allow blank/brown/navy backgrounds, and enable to text to remain visible, 'cos blank on black don’t work too well

Looks good Charlie. How do you to the backtiming in the left hand side?

I would like to be able to set the forecolour too! Would allow me to set the items to the same as we have them at the moment - save on confusion of our presenters (some of them are knocking on a bit…)

Cheers,

Matt

Support for changing the foreground colors will be offered when I revise the playlist component, scheduled for the 2.1.x development release.

Torben

Awesome! Cheers Torben.

Have you decided on a release date for 2.0 yet?

Cheers,

Matt

(P.S. I found out how to get the backtiming going - so scratch that question )

Well … let’s find the last bugs, ignore any bright ideas, and it will be on its way soon.

Torben

Matt,
In addition to enabling the backtiming option - I put a time-marker on the DUMMY file at the top of the playlist, and set that to 19:00:00 - so my “datum” is 7pm - everything after is calculated from that point.

I found that one by accident, and it’s very useful when planning a playlist.

Ah cheers Charlie! That is a handy one! This bit of kit seems to have many hidden features…(or maybe I just dont read manuals properly? )

Cheers,

Matt

The manual is still far from complete … if I’d only had more time for that.

Torben

Torben,
If you want some help with that, please let me know.

Ever heard of DocBook/XML?

Yes - But not really delved too deep into it.
