I Tunes Database

hello

i was up most of last night putting the ramps and stuff on the songs from the i tunes database when i drag them on the player i dont see the ramps and stuff do you know how i do this

i have a back up of the .mmd files before i was useing i tunes so if you know what file i need to stick them in

Hi Sean and welcome to the mAirList forums.

Can you answer the following for us so we can begin to help.

1.Have you saved all the ramps etc as part of the mmd files?

2.Have you set your configuration to show ramps etc?

Kind Regards Tony

yes to both

i have looked and if i add a the songs where i have stored my mmd it show them but if i search database on mairlist it dont show the ramps

MMD files and/or tags are not read when using iTunes at this time. This is mainly because database search would be very slow then, in particular when there are files without any tags/mmd files, and auto-cue is enabled.

I’m currently looking into a solution for this.

Generally, iTunes is not a suitable replacement for a “real” database, because it’s not possible to store mAirList’s meta data (cue points etc.) in the database.

Ok can anyone recamend a suitable “real” database as i have a lot of songs & jingles and just adding a directory tree is not suitable

Thanks

sean

Hi Sean, I would stay with iTunes for now. There is mediamonkey but this does not interface direct into mAirList.

You would use mediamonkey as a seperate search tool and then drag and drop audio into mAirList.

“Real” database for mAirList is currently eldoDB or radioDB but these are to be replaced by mAirListDB. Its a matter of waiting until Torben releases this.

Kind Regards Tony

Tony: what you say about MM (drag/drop into mAirList playlist or cart player) is true, but it depends what’s more important to the individual/station.

MM has features that iTunes doesn’t, like Magic Nodes; MM is nowhere near as invasive and all-pervasive on your PC as iTunes is; and MM does not attempt to connect to the Net by default.

For me, each of those things is more important than having a search function ‘built in’ to the main mAirList window: YMMV. That’s why I paid for the registered version of MM to have the auto-library-update work.

Can you please try the latest snaphot build #535? http://www.mairlist.com/download/mAirList/v2.2/snapshot/

I have teached the iTunes interface how to read MMD files. File tags are a different pair of shoes.

Torben, purely to help further improve your already excellent English …

Well, it was early this morning…

(The first one is really embarrasing, I shouldn’t have done that wrong.)

hi went to download it and it says “This application has failed to sart because bass.dll was not found” is that just my computer or is it part of mAirList that is missing

Oh, it must be the first time you’re using a snaphot.

Just download the mAirList.exe file from the URL above and replace the existing one in your mAirList program folder (most likely in C:\Program files\mAirList). Keep any other file found in that folder.

I created a Wiki page explaining how to download and use a snaphot: http://wiki.mairlist.com/index.php/Snapshot
