Maybe this is already asked before. unfortunattely I haven’t found anything on this subject in the forum.
I have 1 pc wich is used in the studio for playout. (it contains the professional version).
Now what I would like to do is this:
None of the dj’s can acces the database (perhaps only after using a password). At this moment when you rightclick an item and press properties the database is opened. In this case anyone can acces (and adjust) the database.
I only want certain people to have acces to the database to be sure noone makes a fuckup!
For now, only the config app and shutdown function can be locked by a password. Wouldn’t it be great to have the database app used in mairlist locked with a password aswell (or hidden for certain people)
Just to be sure noone gets the database messed up…
let me hear what your thoughts are on this case! Or if you have a good solution for this case, it is also welcome
Good idea. I have had similar thoughts recently. Maybe it would be wise to have read-only access for the DJ, i. e. cue-ins etc. can be set for the current playlist, but writing to the database is password-protected, maybe the export button is can be set to inactive.
There is a user role system already built into mAirlist:
The one thing you can’t do is, changing the user on the fly. I think you have to close mAirlist to change the user and it’s assigned role. It could be possible, that you can launch the databese management not from within mAirlist and so have a chance to login to manage the database with a different user, without stopping the playout.
