I would find the option to have a browser in a external window really helpfull. Then have a button on the main screen to open it?
Would this be a possibility?

It’s already on my list. I consider making ANY screen object detachable from the main screen (“docking”). Let’s see …
Thanks Torben - that great
I know it is on the list but I think that one of the problems at the moment is the size of the browser box - if this could be separate (like the cartwall) and opened/closed when needed then this would go a long way to solving the space issue.
Are you using the default layout? Did you know that you can change the width of the browser with the mouse? Just grab the small vertical “splitter” bar between the browser and the playlist and move it further right. You can also hide the browser completely by moving the bar all the way to the right.
I am not in front of the audio PC at the moment but will have a ‘drag’ this evening.
I am playing with custom layouts - the reason for my comment is that I think that the browser needs to be a reasonable size so that a reasonable amount of audio files can be displayed which means that it can take up a lot of screen footprint.
It does not however need to be displayed all the time therefore my thoughts were that a button could be placed in the layout which, when pressed, opened up the browser element in a separate window which could temporarily take up a larger screen area. Whne the audio is selected then the browser window could disappear.
I think I read somewhere that something similar could be done with the cartwall (certainly it can be detached from the main mAirList screen and then possibly a button could make it visible or not).
Did you know that you can change the width of the browser with the mouse?I tried that last night and it helps but in my view a separate pop-up window would be the solution.
As an aside - is it possible for the user to customise what fields are displayed when looking at a various browser views such as directory listing or browsing the database (e.g. displaying the length of the track/ramp etc)?
I know there is a ColWidth setting for the playlist where various columns can be hidden by setting their width to 0 - is there a similar option for the browser views mentioned above?
Ron.
No, neither is possible at the moment.
Enhancing the browser is certainly on my to-do list, just like so many other things … sigh
