Dual Monitors Setup?

Hi,

I was wondering how you set up a dual monitor in mAirlist.

I’ve got mAirlist 3.0.12 build 664 with a personalised skin (the ‘Dalet’ skin that was made for me elsewhere on this forum) and a Matrox G550 Dual Head graphics card with the latest drivers from the Matrox web site.

I’ve manged to stretch the desktop over the two monitors. However, my ‘Dalet’ skin is setup for space on two monitors, but it’s only showing the first part on the screen… the second mairlist bit is not shown.

I was just wondering whether that is because I need to change a setting in mAirlist. If so, which one do I need to change and to what?

Thanks!

I am not a specialist in mAirList skin-programming, but I have such a Matrox box.

There is one big difference between the Matrox DualHead2go and a graphic card with two monitor outputs is following:
Two separate monitor outputs are two monitors in Windows. (The menue bar is limited to the main monitor)
Two monitors at a DualHead2go is ONE ultrawide monitor in Windows. (The menue bar is extended on both monitors connected to the Dualhead2Go).
So you probably need not a dual head skin, but an double-wide single head skin.

Multiple monitors always add up to one single large screen (coordinate system). For example, I have one 1600x1200 and one 1280x1024 screen, so I have a virtual 2820x2224 screen, with parts of it invisible (because the monitors have different sizes).

So when you’re doing skin programming, just think of your monitors as a single big one.

The setting Stageradio75 is talking about only affects the way Windows displays its task bar, only on the “main” monitor (= part of the virtual desktop) or stretched over both of them. Most modern graphic drivers also take care about what happens when you click the Maximize button - that is, that the window isn’t maximized on the complete virtual desktop, but only on the area of the current screen.

It would be worth checking in mAirList Config that GUI, Settings, Window Position isn’t set to something inappropriate like Maximized on monitor 1.

Though if I remember correctly: if there is a layout.ini file in your mAirList\config folder, the settings in there will take precedence over the config program’s settings on the GUI node. Is that right, Torben?

In the recent versions, layout.ini isn’t used anymore for the position of the main window. Instead, there’s now the “remember window position” settings which can be used in both automatic and custom layout mode.

Sorry for the extremly late answer. Things went a bit haywire here, which is easily done when you have a child than suffers from untreated ADHD. Anyway, just to let you all know, I have managed to get the dual monitor setup to work perfectly now. So this problem is solved. I do have another tiny thing, but I’ll open a new thread for that. In meantime thanks to everyone trying to help me sort my dual monitors out. It’s greatly appreciated!
