Countdown to event

A suggestion for a small cosmetic change.

If an event is scheduled, the time of that event is displayed in a box (the event box?) on screen. Would it be possible to have the option to toggle this to a countdown timer to the event by say right clicking on the event box? If agreed then the choice of which display is used by default should be in an ini file somewhere.

The main reason for this is that I can see an event to fire the news jingle for example being useful to some presenters when in ASSIST mode who find it difficult to back-time to the top of the hour! They would also benefit from something that counted down to 0:00:00 to let them know when it was going to fire.

Ron, did you know that you can display backtiming in a Player as well as in the Playlist? (Not documented in the Wiki yet.)

In a loaded Player, double-click the elapsed/remain time display. This will display a backtime, i.e. the time that Player will end if Play is pressed ‘now.’ A single-click on the time display will restore it to its normal function, because yes, the Player will stay in backtiming until you change it—even if another track is loaded afterwards.

Though I agree with your original suggestion to have an option of a ‘countdown’ display in the Next Event Time box (actually I usually call this ‘the E box!’).

CAD,

Yes - I found the countdown and backtime facility on the players. The event box (which I shall now call the E box!) seemed to be the exception to the rule.
