We would like to specify particular Virtual Folders, and any sub-ordinate folders within them, to display as a tree view in a Browser pane much the same as disk-based folders do.
The current single-root database browser pane, while powerful, exposes way too much irrelevant information that can be overwhelming for the casual broadcaster. Our old system allowed us to curate media sub-sets that could be (eyeball) scanned after a single mouse click. Virtual Folder panes would allow us to implement an almost identical feature.
I’ve serached the English forum and there doesn’t seem to be much demand for this. I only found a couple of threads where it was discussed. I suspect that’s because Virtual Folders are mostly used as a tool to categorise items for the automation list builders.
We don’t use automation. I need to provide tools that allow human curators / selectors to quickly locate the asset sub-set of interest. I don’t believe this use case is unique to my station.
