Browser in seperate window

Hi

Just another quick request/question…

at a studio i have recently introduced mairlist to, there is only the one computer monitor and to cram everything we need into the one window makes the layout look somewhat ‘squashed’.

What i wondered is… would it be at all possible to have the browser to almost appear on a seperate window. Currently, there is the option to have the cartwall in its own window, which you can bring up/hide via the button on the toolbar, Well would it be possible to have this option with the browser, so that we could click a button and the browser pops up with the preset folder directories loaded and the on-the-fly database. then if we could get it to pop up, we could simply drop items into the playlist.

I hope that sort of makes sense ;D it would just be so nice for an option like this, rather than having to keep using other software and dragging and dropping as such, which can easily catch you out in terms of which software is “selected/live”.

Many thanks

Hi Lackster, ideally a second monitor would be needed for this.

However Charlie kindly has made this available:

Use the updated version about halfway down the page. Its a mini browser which you can launch from a hotkey shortcut.

Right click the standard shortcut for the utility (or create one if not present) select properties and enter the key combination required. Click Ok

Now test the shortcut. Once all is working Ok, remove the standard browser in mAirList if you wish by setting the browser sizes to 0 (height and width in layout.ini). You can they use the extra screen space for something else.

OF COURSE!!!

Id forgotten about that software charlie had made!!

In my studio, i have a second monitor, but in the studio im installing into there just isnt the space for a 2nd so it has to be on the one monitor.

With that software, can you set various directories like you can in mairlist’s browser e.g. 60’s, 70’s, XMAS, JINGLES etc etc?

Many Thanks

It’s quite basic, but there are 4 preset buttons to recall your favourite folders. There is also a small playlist window. The latest version (although I haven’t changed much), is here: http://www.charliedavy.co.uk/downloads/index.php?dir=Broadcast/

Excellent.

Thanks for the speedy response, i’ll give it a go.

I don’t suppose there is any way i can increase the number of preset buttons is there?

Cheers!

Well I could put some more buttons on it - but it’s not designed to be as user-friendly as certain bits of German software  I suppose a drop-down combobox would be an easier way of adding further presets… I’ll see what I can do!

A cheat can be achieved by using a second copy of mAirList or the switch command to start mAirList using a different layout.

In the new layout just have a browser with as many directories as you need setup. Hide the toolbar and players in the layout.ini. In the config disable always run maximised but check remember window position.

Open the main layout of mAirList for reference.

Open the browser layout version of mAirList. You can position and size the whole GUI by dragging the edges (to size) the top to position on screen to allow easy use of the playout version. Audio can be dragged from the browser into the playlist or players.

Not neat but a workaround.

Screenshot attached, the browser shown is the second copy of mAirList running. You may also need to disable in config - Only allow a single copy to run.

Kind Regards tony
