what do you think about an automatic switch between soft an hard timing…
Today you can specify a fixed time for an element and tell mAirlist that it should handle it soft (play the running element to the end and then go to the fixed time element) or hard (fade out and directly jump to element).
I would like to have a third method which employs a “Max Deviation” field, telling mAirlist that if the difference between specified time and expectet playout time is bigger than “Max Deviation” Seconds, it should do a hard fade and in any other case do it soft. MAirlist could also do decisions to the other direction, so to say if an element ends less than “Max Deviation” seconds before the fixed time, it would be allowed to start the element earlier.
This makes a compromise between hard and soft timing possible, which enables you to assure that your ads, news etc. is never more than 2mins late (for example) and on the other hand fading of running songs would be strongly reduced…
